Stating that the White -headed Duck should be protected, Çelik said, ‘It is an endangered species in IUCN criteria. It is one of the rare species in our country. In Eastern Anatolia, it is a duck species seen in Çalı Lake in Kars.’ Explaining that they have been waiting for the bird to come to this area for a long time and that they have been working to get these records, Çelik said, ‘We have recorded 2 individuals in our field studies. We will carry out our field studies to observe the species in our future studies.’
Çelik highlighted the fact that a considerable number of avian species are resident in the Eastern Anatolia Region, including several that are classified as endangered. He went on to state that the imaging of this particular species (White-headed Duck) is of great significance, given that it is currently endangered. Çelik stated that the species had been observed in the region on previous occasions, but that this instance involved a more detailed and comprehensive visual record, captured using a camera..
