Our Mission
The research conducted by this institution encompasses all relevant disciplines pertaining to birds. These include, but are not limited to, the following: diversity determination, breeding, wintering and migration biology, ecology, habitat use, population determination, monitoring and tracking, distribution and mapping at regional, national and international scales. Additionally, the institution collects, archives and evaluates data, publishes the results and presents them to relevant institutions and organisations. Furthermore, it coordinates national and international studies and represents the University on relevant platforms. It also ensures the training of experts in their fields, makes recommendations on the monitoring and protection of birds and their habitats, and informs the public.
Our Vision
To be an institution that conducts scientific research on birds on a national and international scale, evaluates and publishes the results, provides consultancy to relevant institutions and organisations, and pioneers the training of experts in their field.
Our Targets
The Ornithology Application and Research Centre, operating under the umbrella of Iğdır University, aims to understand and protect the natural diversity in Iğdır Province and contribute to sustainable development. In this direction, it aims to lead scientific researches by identifying bird species in the region and monitoring population dynamics, to raise awareness by organising trainings for university students and the local community, and to support ecosystem health by carrying out habitat protection and restoration projects. In addition, with the awareness of social responsibility, it plans to add economic value to the region with ornithological projects and tourism activities in order to contribute to local economic and social development.
